The Song Rising

After an incredibly long wait, I am proud to present the title of the third installment in the Bone Season septology: THE SONG RISING, out in November 2016! It might be my favourite title so far – I hope you all love it as much as I do!

I just want to thank you all for your incredible patience in waiting for this reveal over the last year. I feel so grateful to have such loyal and enthusiastic readers – thank you, thank you. I know another year is a long time to wait to have the book in your hands, but I’m confident that Bloomsbury has chosen this date for a good reason, and I will do my utmost to make the wait easier to bear with teasers and hints.

THE SONG RISING will be available to pre-order from all reputable retailers very soon. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s up.

Also, Bloomsbury are currently running three competitions to win On the Merits of Unnaturalness, ending on Sunday. You can find them below:

    1. Sorry. I wrote the book as fast as I could, but my publisher decided that was the right time.

  7. I'm 28 years old. I've been bookish since I was a kid. As an only child, books were my main source of entertainment. My first novel was Moby Dick. I was nine when it was given to me as a gift. That was the first time I knew what it was like to become completely immersed in a story, so much that the world around you melts away and all you care about is knowing what comes next.

Since those childhood years of literary exploration, very few books (and even fewer book series) have sent me back into that same sense of childhood wonder that comes with being emotionally absorbed by a story. So absorbed that every moment of the protagonist's life is one that you feel with them.

This series is one of those special ones. It sinks into your bones.

It sucks that we have to wait another year for book three. But it's definitely worth the wait. And personally, I don't care how much time it takes as long as it's what the author intends for it to be.

I don't care where the next book takes me, I'm just along for the ride. But man, I do wish that Paige and Warden would move further along the bases, if you catch my drift.

  12. Was November chosen because book 3 takes places in the month of November, since book two ends at the beginning of November? I can't wait for the release. I may have to reread both books before the third is released. I haven't loved a fantasy/YA book in a long time. Have you ever considered writing a pre sequel to The Bone Season, maybe about the notorious Jaxon Hall? Best character second to Paige, obviously.

  13. I have a question about writing. Do you wait until you finish the book to pick a title or do you pick the title first then write the book from there? And how do you decide on something? I mean the bone season must have been a pretty easy title choice. I love writing,i just have a hard time really beginning a story. I started one book for my dad and I had a really great idea for it but I'm having a major case of writers block. I have a couple chapters so far. They're pretty short but... I published the first few chapter on wattpad. Maybe you could take a look at it? If you're too busy I understand of course. It's called 'Seeing Colors'
